Noise Description:
Construction crews will be delivering and installing the climber sections for the tower cranes and jumping the tower cranes on Saturday and Sunday for the weekends listed above. On 7/22-7/23 construction crews will be on site to receive and install the crane climber. On 7/29-7/30, construction crews will jump the towers cranes by 5 crane sections. We will be using heavy equipment to build the crane and will have deliveries coming in and out of the job site.
Maximum background noise (without equipment running):
76.2 dBA taken at the corner of the site.
Ambient night time noise level (with equipment.:
The average noise with equipment running on site have read 84.1 dBA taken about 50'-0" away from equipment. Readings from neighboring properties have varied, but they have typically been below 70 dBA.
Reason for variance:
It is important that this work occurs on the weekend in order maintain our current construction schedule, as it cannot occur at the same time as other work on site. Additionally, completing this work on the weekend will reduce the impact on the public. Since Peachtree Street is the only entrance to the job site the lower traffic volume on the weekends will prevent blocking a high traffic road and impacting Midtown residents commute.
Sections of Chp 74, Article IV, for which temporary variance shall apply:
Sec 74-134 (a) Sec 74-134 (b)
Description of interim noise control measurements.:
The noise is not atypical of the noise created in the surrounding areas and will not exceed typical construction noise levels. The tower cranes and mast climbers have electric motors and make very little noise.
