While the County does not sell any information collected and provided through this website, such information may be subject to disclosure as required by any federal, state or local laws, rules, or regulations, including, but not limited to, The North Carolina Public Records Act (NC General Statute 132).

Credit Card Information

All online payment transactions are handled by Forte Payment Solutions, a third-party service provider. We do not request or store any credit card information on www.buncombecounty.org or on any servers owned by the County.

Measures Taken to Secure Transactions

The County uses industry standard encryption technology to safeguard transactions and confidential data. The technology used is SSL (Secure Socket Layer), which is supported by all web browsers that are version 4.0 or newer.  Information is encrypted as it travels over the Internet using encryption strengths that are standard in the industry. Upon receipt by the County, said information is stored at a secure site on restricted-access computers located in restricted-access areas. County employees with access to personal information are trained to follow specific practices concerning its proper handling.
