Backflow Cross Connection Section, Fort Worth Water Department (FWWD) NOTE** โฆโฆ.. Plans void without attached examiners notes. All new installs, relocates, replacements, or removal of backflow assemblies require a permit from Planning and Development (817) 392-2222) and inspection / approval from the City of Fort Worth Water Department Backflow Cross Connection Section (817-392-8375). All installations shall be in compliance with Environmental Ordinance #12274 Article V Division 3 and Plumbing Ordinance # 22521-12-2016. Drain lines to accommodate full relief valve discharge flow should be considered.
Approved and Dedicated Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly (R.P.Z.A) or True Air Gap @ Point of Use on High Hazard appliances that include but are not limited to Encapsulated Water Filters, Combi Ovens, Garbage Disposals, Glasswashers/Warewashers/ Dishwashers with Automatic Chemical Injection, Steamers, Steam Tables, Hose Reels, Chiller & Boiler Systems, Trash Chutes, Degreasers/Sanitizers (i.e. Soap Dispensers), Water Treatment Appliances (Water Softener, Reverse Osmosis). Dual Checks not approved for these applications.
2021 IPC 608.17.1 Beverage Dispensers. Protection from Carbonators, Beverage Dispensers, shall be an RPZA, made from a material that does not react to Co2, or a true Air Gap. Dual Checks not approved for this application.
2021 IPC // 608.16.1 Protection by Air Gap. Openings and Outlets shall be protected by an Air Gap between the opening and the fixture flood level rim as specified in Table 608.15.1. Openings and Outlets Equipped for Hose Connection shall be protected by means other than an Air Gap.
Permanent Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) approved scaffolding / platform required for all installations 5 feet or higher from finished floor.
All backflow and/or irrigation work contingent to field Inspection/Test and subject to approval by Backflow // Irrigation Inspector.
All existing premises backflow assemblies shall be confirmed as having current test status on record with the City of Fort Worth, (817-392-8375) including Irrigation Rain and Freeze sensors. Prior to Building Final and Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.) issuance. Current 12/2022, F-F. 4/2023 I-I-D.
If a 2nd Source and/or Auxiliary Water (e.g. water well, pond, lake, river, Rainwater Harvesting, reclaimed water, etc.) exists or will be installed on premises/property it shall require an RPZA protection at point of connection to all city water service, Domestic, Irrigation and Fire Protection. 2021 International Plumbing Code (IPC) 608.7.1 PRIVATE WATER SUPPLIES. Cross connections between a private water supply and a potable public supply shall be prohibited.
The issuance or granting of a permit or approval of plans and specifications shall not be construed to be a permit for, or an approval of, any violation of any of the provisions of code or of any other ordinance of the jurisdiction.
