Mecklenburg County Accela has been updated to include Workers’ Compensation insurance validation (in compliance with NC GS 87-14).  If your contractor profile was created prior to 4/24/25, please take the following steps to make sure your declaration is incorporated before applying for any new permits.  You will be declaring if you are exempt, self-insured, or hold a NC Workers’ Compensation insurance policy. 


These are the steps – you will only need  to do this once:

  1. Log into to your ACA account
  2. At the ADMINISTRATION tab, click on CREATE AN APPLICATION
  3. Follow prompts to the ADMIN drop down and select CONTRACTOR PROFILE
  4. Fill out that application, including the newly added step, WORKERS COMPENSATION VALIDATION through to the last step where you will receive confirmation in the form of a PROFILE number.
  5. Please log out and then back in for this to fully take effect prior to creating your next permit application
